Tomiko Itsuka, the world’s oldest woman, dies at the age of 116
- 116-year-old Tomiko Itsuka, known as the world’s oldest woman, has died due to old age.
- The Japanese woman was born on May 23, 1908 in Osaka as the eldest of three siblings. Itsuka will become Japan’s oldest living person in December 2023 after the death of 116-year-old Fusa Tatsumi in Kashiwabara.
- Average life expectancy of Japanese:
- Women – 87.71 years
- Male – 81.56 years

- विश्व की सबसे वृद्ध महिला के रूप में पहचानी जाने वाली 116 वर्षीय टोमिको इटूका का बुढ़ापे के कारण निधन हो गया है।
- जापानी महिला का जन्म 23 मई, 1908 को ओसाका में तीन भाई-बहनों में सबसे बड़ी के रूप में हुआ था। काशीवारा में 116 वर्षीय फुसा तात्सुमी की मृत्यु के बाद दिसंबर 2023 में इटूका जापान की सबसे बुजुर्ग जीवित व्यक्ति बन गई।

- He died in Hampi; he contributed to the works of Acharya Madhava and Vaishnavism in the region.

India’s real GDP growth rate will decline to 6.4% in FY 2025
- The National Statistical Office (NSO) projects India’s real GDP growth rate to be 6.4% in FY25, down from 8.2% in FY24.
- Real gross value added (GVA) is also estimated to grow by 6.4%, as against 7.2% in the previous fiscal year.
- Amidst the macroeconomic slowdown, agriculture GVA is projected to grow significantly from 1.4% to 3.8% in FY24.

- राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकी कार्यालय (NSO) ने वित्त वर्ष 2025 में भारत की वास्तविक GDP वृद्धि दर 6.4% रहने का अनुमान लगाया है, जो वित्त वर्ष 2024 में 8.2% थी।
- वास्तविक सकल मूल्य वर्धित (GVA) में भी 6.4% की वृद्धि होने का अनुमान है, जबकि पिछले वित्त वर्ष में यह 7.2% थी।
- व्यापक आर्थिक मंदी के बीच, कृषि GVA में वित्त वर्ष 2024 में 1.4% से 3.8% तक उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि होने का अनुमान है।

India welcomes first generation of beta babies
- Born on January 1, 2025 at 12:03 am in Aizawl, Mizoram, Frankie Remruatdika Zedeng is India’s first generation beta baby.
- The baby weighed 3.12 kg at birth and was born to his parents Ramzirmavi and ZD Remruatsanga at Synod Hospital in Durtlang.
- Generation Beta refers to individuals born between 2025 and 2039, whose lives are dominated by AI, automation, and sustainability-focused advancements.

- जन्म के समय बेबी का वजन 3.12 किलोग्राम था और बेबी डर्टलैंग के सिनोड अस्पताल में उनके माता-पिता रामज़िरमावी और जेडडी रेमरूआतसांगा ने जन्म दिया।

Anahat Singh won the Under-17 British Junior Open
- Anahat Singh of India won the Under-17 Girls Singles title at the British Junior Open 2024, defeating Malika El Karakhshi of Egypt 3-2 in a thrilling final.
- This is his third title at the British Junior Open, having previously won in the Under-11 (2019) and Under-15 (2023) categories.

Appointment of judges in Delhi, Uttarakhand High Courts
- President Draupadi Murmu appointed Ajay Digpaul and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar as Judges of Delhi High Court and Ashish Naithani as Judge of Uttarakhand High Court.
- These promotions were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in its meetings held in December 2023 and August 2024.
- The appointments are aimed at strengthening the judicial infrastructure and efficiency in the High Courts.

- राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने अजय दिगपॉल और हरीश वैद्यनाथन शंकर को दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय का न्यायाधीश तथा आशीष नैथानी को उत्तराखंड उच्च न्यायालय का न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया।
- उच्चतम न्यायालय कॉलेजियम ने दिसंबर 2023 और अगस्त 2024 में हुई बैठकों में इन पदोन्नतियों की सिफारिश की थी।
- नियुक्तियों का उद्देश्य उच्च न्यायालयों में न्यायिक अवसंरचना और दक्षता को मजबूत करना है।
Microsoft invests $3 billion in AI in India
- Microsoft will invest $3 billion to expand AI and cloud infrastructure in India, aimed at accelerating innovation and supporting PM Modi’s 2047 vision.
- Plans include skilling 10 million Indians in AI by 2030 and fostering 5,000 startups through SaaS and AI ecosystem partnerships.
- This investment will expand its data centre campuses, with the fourth region to be operational by 2026.
माइक्रोसॉफ्ट का भारत में 3 बिलियन डॉलर का AI निवेश
- माइक्रोसॉफ्ट भारत में AI और क्लाउड इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर का विस्तार करने के लिए 3 बिलियन डॉलर का निवेश करेगा, जिसका उद्देश्य नवाचार में तेजी लाना और PM मोदी के 2047 विजन का समर्थन करना है।

AFC Asian Cup 2027
- The AFC Asian Cup 2027 will be held in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar) from January 7 to February 5.
- Matches will take place at world-class venues, including King Fahd Sports City in Riyadh and King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, with a new stadium planned in Al Khobar.
