RBI cuts cash reserve ratio by 50 basis points to 4%
- RBI has kept the policy repo rate unchanged at 6.50% for the eleventh time.
- As a result, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) rate remains at 6.25% and the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate at 6.75%.
- RBI has also reduced the cash reserve ratio by 50 basis points to 4% to ease potential liquidity stress.
- The move will unlock ₹1.16 lakh crore of bank funds.

- India has been elected to chair the 68th session of the Narcotic Drugs Commission.
- Shambhu Kumaran, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna, officially took over the chairmanship of CND.
- The CND is the UN’s principal policy-making body on drug-related matters.
- Its job is to monitor global drug trends, support member countries in making balanced policies.

Sex ratio in the country to increase from 918 in 2014-15 to 930 in 2023-24
- According to provisional data from the Health Management Information System of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the sex ratio (SRB) in the country is projected to increase from 918 in 2014-15 to 930 in 2023-24.
- The national gross enrolment ratio of girls in school at the secondary level has increased from 75.51 per cent in 2014-15 to 79.4 per cent in 2021-22, including rural areas.

- स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय के स्वास्थ्य प्रबंधन सूचना प्रणाली के अनंतिम आंकड़ों के अनुसार, देश में लिंगानुपात (SRB) 2014-15 में 918 से बढ़कर 2023-24 में 930 हो गया है।
- माध्यमिक स्तर पर स्कूल में लड़कियों का राष्ट्रीय सकल नामांकन अनुपात 2014-15 में 75.51 प्रतिशत से बढ़कर 2021-22 में ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों सहित 79.4 प्रतिशत हो गया है।

RBI allows Small Finance Banks to offer pre-approved loans through UPI
- RBI has approved Small Finance Banks (SFBs) to provide pre-approved credit lines through UPI, which will expand financial access.
- The move aims to promote financial inclusion, especially for underprivileged communities, small businesses and micro-entrepreneurs.
- RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das made this announcement after the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting.

INS Tushil to be commissioned in Russia on December 9
- The Indian Navy will commission its latest multi-role stealth-guided missile frigate INS Tushil in Kaliningrad, Russia.
- INS Tushil is an advanced Krivak III class frigate (Project 1135.6).
- It will join the ‘Sword Arm’ of the Western Fleet of the Western Naval Command.
- The name of the ship is Tusheel, which means ‘protecting shield’ and its crest represents ‘Abhedya Kavach’ (impenetrable shield).

Tamil Nadu CM launches Climate Interpretation Park in Chennai
- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Climate Interpretation Park at Kilambakkam in Chennai, which blends entertainment, culture and education.
- Built at a cost of Rs 15 crore, the park has a sculpture garden, playground, yoga space and an archaeological interpretation centre.
- Designed as a carbon and heat sink, the park uses native plants and promotes rainwater reuse.
