World-renowned Albanian novelist Ismail Kadare dies at 88
- Ismail Kadare, renowned Albanian novelist and poet, died on July 1, 2024 in Tirana, Albania, at the age of 88.
- Kadare achieved international fame with “The General of the Dead Army” and won several awards, including the International Booker Prize in 2005.
- Despite facing repression under Albania’s communist regime, he continued writing and lived in exile in France before returning to Albania.
