Kerala unveils India’s first supercapacitor plant.
- Kerala inaugurated India’s first supercapacitor manufacturing facility at Keltron Component Complex.
- Developed in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation, the plant costs ₹42 crore and aims to produce 2,000 supercapacitors per day, with an annual output of ₹22 crore.
- The government plans to invest ₹1,000 crore in the electronics sector, further strengthening its position as a manufacturing hub.

- केरल ने केलट्रॉन कंपोनेंट कॉम्प्लेक्स में भारत की पहली सुपरकैपेसिटर विनिर्माण सुविधा का उद्घाटन किया।

The survey revealed new reptile and amphibian species in Mudumalai.
- A survey in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve discovered 33 reptiles and 36 amphibians, including four potentially new species, including two geckos, a skink and a frog.
- Conducted by Deputy Director Arun Kumar P., it was the first comprehensive study on the reptile fauna in the region, covering altitudes ranging from 300 to 2,000 metres.

- This new initiative includes software designed to protect the cricket community from toxic content, with a focus on protecting the mental health of players and fans.

ADB approves $162 million loan for Himachal Pradesh tourism
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $162 million loan to promote sustainable tourism development in Himachal Pradesh, aimed at upgrading heritage sites and improving tourism infrastructure.
- The key components of the project include restoration of Naggar Castle, enhancement of cultural centres, and construction of a convention centre in Kangra, along with green solutions for accessibility.

India joins International Centre for Energy Efficiency
- The Union Cabinet approved India’s participation in the International Energy Efficiency Hub by signing a Letter of Intent, strengthening its commitment to sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- By July 2024, 16 countries have joined the hub, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the US and the UK.

India, Nepal and Bangladesh sign trilateral power trade agreement
- India, Nepal and Bangladesh signed an agreement under which Nepal will be able to export 40 MW of power to Bangladesh through India’s grid.
- Nepal’s power will flow to India through the 400 KV Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transmission line before reaching Bangladesh.
- The agreement also includes plans to develop the Sunkoshi-3 hydropower project and study a new cross-border transmission line.

The cabinet granted classical language status to five languages.
- The Union Cabinet has approved granting classical language status to Marathi, Bengali, Pali, Prakrit and Assamese, increasing the total number of classical languages to 11.
- Earlier, Tamil, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia had this status.
- It includes states like Maharashtra (Marathi), Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh (Pali and Prakrit), West Bengal (Bengali) and Assam (Assamese).
