India and Japan will cooperate to combat terrorism
- The Joint Working Group of India and Japan discussed the threats of regional and cross-border terrorism during their sixth meeting.
- Emphasis was laid on information sharing, capacity building and training programs and cooperation through multilateral forums such as the United Nations, FATF and Quad to combat terrorism.
- Agreed to hold the seventh meeting of the JWG in Tokyo.

Global unemployment will decline in 2024: UN estimates
- The International Labor Organization (ILO), which once projected the unemployment rate would rise from 5% in 2023 to 5.2% this year, now projects the global unemployment rate to be 4.9% in 2024.
- Earlier, the United Nations had said in another report that India’s GDP will grow by 6.8% in 2023.
- However, 402 million persons were unemployed and needed employment.

Government increases retirement and death grant limit to Rs 25 lakh
- The maximum limit of retirement grant and death grant has been increased by 25% from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, with effect from January 1, 2024.
- The central government increased Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) by 4% in March 2024.
- A grant is a defined benefit plan offered by an employer to an employee for continuous service of five years or more.

- सेवानिवृत्ति अनुदान और मृत्यु अनुदान की अधिकतम सीमा 25% बढ़ाकर 20 लाख रुपये से 25 लाख रुपये कर दी गई है, जो 1 जनवरी 2024 से प्रभावी होगी।
- केंद्र सरकार ने मार्च 2024 में महंगाई भत्ते (DA) और महंगाई राहत (DR) में 4% की बढ़ोतरी की।
- अनुदान एक परिभाषित लाभ योजना है, जो नियोक्ता द्वारा कर्मचारी को पांच वर्ष या उससे अधिक समय तक लगातार सेवाएं देने के लिए दी जाती है।

- Bruhat was victorious in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, winning more than $50,000 in cash and other prizes.
- This year’s competition came down to a tiebreaker in which Bruhat spelled 29 words correctly in 90 seconds, defeating Faizan Zaki, who spelled 20 words correctly.
