JPC approves Wakf Amendment Bill with 14 amendments
- The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Wakf Amendment Bill approved the draft with 14 amendments after six months of discussion.
- The amendments proposed by the BJP-led NDA were adopted by a majority (16 in favour, 10 against).
- The bill, aimed at amending the Wakf Act, 1995, has sparked controversy, with the opposition accusing the JPC of unfair procedures.

- वक्फ संशोधन विधेयक पर संयुक्त संसदीय समिति (JPC) ने छह महीने की चर्चा के बाद 14 संशोधनों के साथ मसौदे को मंजूरी दे दी।
- भाजपा (BJP) के नेतृत्व वाली NDA द्वारा प्रस्तावित संशोधनों को बहुमत से (16 पक्ष में, 10 विरोध में) अपनाया गया।
- वक्फ अधिनियम 1995 में संशोधन करने के उद्देश्य से बनाए गए इस विधेयक ने विवाद को जन्म दे दिया है, विपक्ष ने JPC पर अनुचित प्रक्रियाओं का आरोप लगाया है।
RBI publishes Payment Systems Report, December 2024
- Number of credit cards to increase by 95% to 10.80 crore by December 2024 from 5.53 crore in 2019.
- Digital payments have grown 94x in volume and 3.5x in value since 2013, reaching 20,787 crore transactions in 2024.
- Debit cards saw marginal growth, growing from 80.53 crores (2019) to 99.09 crores (2024). UPI grew from 34% (2019) to 83% (2024).
- Other methods like NEFT and RTGS declined from 66% in 2019 to 17% in 2024.

5th Khelo India Winter Games concludes in Ladakh

RBI plans to infuse Rs 1.1 lakh crore liquidity
- RBI will infuse Rs 1.1 lakh crore through open market operations, repo auctions and $5 billion dollar-rupee swaps to address liquidity shortage.
- Government securities worth Rs 60,000 crore to be bought in tranches; repo auction of Rs 50,000 crore scheduled for February 7.
- New liquidity norms effective from April 1 focus on internet banking risks and high-quality liquid assets.

- 1 अप्रैल से प्रभावी नए तरलता मानदंड इंटरनेट बैंकिंग जोखिमों और उच्च गुणवत्ता वाली तरल संपत्तियों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करते हैं।
