Suman Kumar appointed IOC Director (Planning & Business Development)
- Suman Kumar has taken over as Director (Planning & Business Development) on the Board of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
- Prior to this, he was serving as Executive Director at IOC’s Corporate Office, heading the Exploration & Production (E&P) vertical.
- With over 30 years of experience, he has made significant contributions in natural gas, petrochemicals, city gas distribution and renewable energy expansion.

- सुमन कुमार ने इंडियन ऑयल कॉरपोरेशन (IOC) बोर्ड में निदेशक (योजना एवं व्यवसाय विकास) का कार्यभार संभाला है।
- इससे पहले वे IOC के कॉर्पोरेट कार्यालय में अन्वेषण एवं उत्पादन (E&P) वर्टिकल का नेतृत्व करते हुए कार्यकारी निदेशक के पद पर कार्यरत थे।

- Friedrich Merz’s CDU/CSU coalition wins 28.5% of the vote in the February 23, 2025 election, defeating the SPD’s Olaf Scholz (16%), a major conservative victory.
- Former lawyer and CDU leader Merz focuses on curbing irregular migration, cutting bureaucracy and strengthening EU unity since 2021.
- Despite the AfD’s support in recent polling, he has refused to form a coalition with the far-right party.

Chandrasekaran appointed chairman of Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation
- Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran has been appointed Chairman of the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF).
- It is a philanthropic Section 8 company founded by late Ratan Tata.
- RTEF is independent of the Tata Trusts, with funds from Ratan Tata’s stake in Tata Sons supporting social impact, research and future technologies.
- The Foundation will focus on new and underrepresented philanthropic sectors.

Maha Kumbh 2025 concludes with record 660 million visitors
- Maha Kumbh 2025, held from 13 January to Mahashivratri in Prayagraj, was attended by over 660 million people, making it the world’s largest human gathering.
- Indian Railways operated more than 16,000 trains, facilitating 4.5 crore passengers travelling to and from Prayagraj.
- The 45-day long spiritual event saw massive participation, showcasing the cultural and religious significance of India.

NASA launches Lunar Trailblazer satellite to detect water on the Moon
- The Lunar Trailblazer satellite launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 to map water on the Moon, particularly in shadowed polar craters.
- Built by Lockheed Martin, the 440-pound satellite will identify water ice for future lunar exploration and astronaut bases.
- It will orbit at an altitude of 60 miles, taking high-resolution images to study the distribution of water.

Defence Minister releases MOD’s Hindi magazine ‘Sashakt Bharat’
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched the first edition of the biannual Hindi magazine of the Ministry of Defence ‘Sashakt Bharat’ at South Block, New Delhi on February 27, 2025.
- The magazine includes poems on the valour of the armed forces and articles on government policies, written by Defence Ministry personnel to promote inclusiveness.
- Rajnath Singh stressed on promoting Hindi as a unifying force in the social and cultural fabric of India.

- पत्रिका में सशस्त्र बलों की वीरता पर कविताएँ और सरकारी नीतियों पर लेख शामिल हैं, जो समावेशिता को बढ़ावा देने के लिए रक्षा मंत्रालय के कर्मियों द्वारा लिखे गए हैं।

DRDO and Indian Navy successfully test fired Naval Anti-Ship Missile
- DRDO and Indian Navy conducted successful flight-tests of Naval Anti-Ship Missile (NASM-SR) launched from Indian Navy Seaking Helicopter.
- The missile hit a small ship target in sea-skimming mode, demonstrating man-in-the-loop feature and in-flight retargeting through a two-way datalink system.
- It consists of Imaging Infra Red Seeker, Fibre Optic Gyroscope INS, Altimeter and Electro-Mechanical Actuators.

- Indian Army signs ₹80 crore deal with L&T for 223 Automated Chemical Agent Detection and Alarm (ACADA) systems under the Procurement India category.
- ACADA detects chemical warfare agents and industrial toxic chemicals, enhancing CBRN defence and disaster response capabilities.
- More than 80% of components are locally sourced, promoting Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

International Radiobiology Conference on Space Radiation
International Radiobiology Conference on Space Radiation and Human Space Mission began in New Delhi, inaugurated by Professor Ajay Kumar Sood and DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat.
- The conference focused on radiation effects, biomedical countermeasures and international cooperation for space exploration.
- It was organised by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences under DRDO.
