SC sets up task force to tackle student suicides
- The Supreme Court has constituted a National Task Force to address mental health concerns of students and prevent suicides in higher educational institutions.
- The Supreme Court said that there has been a rise in the number of student suicides in higher educational institutions, including IITs, which is even higher than the number of farmer suicides due to the agrarian crisis.

ESIC expands coverage in Uttar Pradesh: 15 more districts notified
- The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has expanded its coverage in Uttar Pradesh by notifying 15 additional districts under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme.
- These districts include Ambedkar Nagar, Auraiya, Bahraich, Gonda, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Kannauj, Maharajganj and Pratapgarh.
- 74 out of 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh are now fully covered under ESI scheme.

Parliament passes Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill 2024
- Parliament has passed the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill 2024, which has been approved by the Rajya Sabha, which was earlier passed by the Lok Sabha in December 2024.
- The Bill amends the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and intends to strengthen the efficient functioning of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMA).
