ADB funds Rs 530 crore water supply scheme for Tripura
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide Rs 530 crore to improve drinking water supply in 12 towns of Tripura, benefiting about 400,000 residents.
- Tripura CM Saha laid the foundation stone of ‘Mukhyamantri Nagar Unnayan Prakalpa’ (Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme) in Udaipur, which aims to solve drinking water problems for over 75,000 families within three years.

- Chiranjeevi is recognised by the Guinness World Records as the most successful film star in Indian cinema.
- He has appeared in over 537 songs and performed over 24,000 dance moves in his 46-year career.
- The award was presented by Aamir Khan on 22 September, marking the anniversary of Chiranjeevi’s film debut in 1978.

Maharashtra government approves renaming of Pune airport
- Pune Airport will be renamed as Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Airport.
- The Maharashtra government approved the proposal to change the name in a cabinet meeting chaired by minister Murlidhar Mohol.
- The decision recognises the contribution of Sant Tukaram to Bhagavadgita and reflects the wishes of the local villagers and Warkari community as he was born in Lohegaon near the airport.

ICMR wins UN award for NCD control efforts
- The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has received the 2024 @UN Inter-Agency Task Force Award for its achievements in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health.
- ICMR’s efforts include setting up a National Centre for Assistive Health Technology, promoting sustainable products and conducting the world’s largest assistive technology survey.

New record set for longest ISS mission
- Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub have set a new record for the longest stay on the International Space Station (ISS) by staying for 374 days.
- He surpassed the previous record of 370 days set by cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev, Dmitry Petelin and NASA astronaut Francisco Rubio.

Sangram Singh created history in MMA
- Indian wrestler Sangram Singh has become the first Indian male wrestler to win an MMA bout at the Gamma International Fighting Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia.
- He defeated Pakistani opponent Ali Raza Nasir in a quick 90-second contest.
- This win is the fastest recorded by an Indian fighter in the 93 kg category in the championship.

India to open two new consulates in US
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Indian diaspora in Long Island, New York, announced the opening of two new Indian Consulates in Boston and Los Angeles.
- Modi introduced the PUSHP mantra for India’s development: Progressive India, Invincible India, Spiritual India, Humanity First India and Prosperous India.
- He praised the Indian community, calling them ‘ambassadors of the nation’.

Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik appointed new ISI chief
- Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed the new Director General of Pakistan’s ISI.
- Currently serving as Adjutant General at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, he will replace Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum.
- The appointment is traditionally made by the Prime Minister in consultation with the Army Chief, reflecting the close ties between the military and intelligence leadership in Pakistan.

India to get first national security semiconductor manufacturing plant
- India will set up its first national security semiconductor manufacturing plant through partnership with the US, which will produce military-grade chips and components for telecommunications.
- The project named ‘Shakti’ focuses on advanced sensing, communications and power electronics, which is an important milestone in India-US relations.
- The aim of this collaboration is to enhance semiconductor supply.
