Lost 4th-century city famous for pearls discovered near UAE

New eel species discovered by ZSI in Ganjam district of Odisha
- ZSI scientists have discovered a new species of eel, Pisodonophis kalinga, named after ancient Odisha, in Palur canal in Ganjam district of Odisha.
- This species looks like a snake, ranging from 560 mm to 7 m in length, it belongs to the Ophichthidae family and Anguiliformes order.
- This species, found in Chilka Lagoon and adjacent Palur Canal, is commonly named Kalinga Snake Eel by ZSI.

International Yoga Day: 21st June
- This year the 10th International Yoga Day is being celebrated, the theme of which is ‘Yoga for self and society’.
- In 2014, the United Nations declared 21 June as this day under Resolution 69/131.
- This proposal was first presented by Prime Minister Modi in his address during the inauguration of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
- Yoga was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016.

India launches first National Additive Manufacturing Symposium

NHAI and IIIT Delhi partner to enhance road safety through AI technology
- NHAI signed an MoU with Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi to leverage AI to enhance road safety with a focus on improving the availability of road signs on national highways.
- IIIT Delhi will survey approximately 25,000 km of highways, collect and analyze data on the condition of road markings using AI for accurate identification and classification.

Avian influenza response simulation exercise conducted in Bhopal
- The Department of Animal Husbandry, in partnership with the World Bank, conducted the Avian Influenza Outbreak and Response Simulation Exercise in Bhopal on June 19-20, 2024, addressing the unusual outbreak in Kerala and global spread in non-poultry species.
- Type A influenza viruses often originate in aquatic birds and spread among bird species.
- If the mutation persists, it may spread to other mammals.

- पशुपालन विभाग ने विश्व बैंक के साथ साझेदारी में 19-20 जून, 2024 को भोपाल में एवियन इन्फ्लूएंजा प्रकोप और प्रतिक्रिया सिमुलेशन अभ्यास आयोजित किया, जिसमें केरल में असामान्य प्रकोप और गैर-पोल्ट्री प्रजातियों में वैश्विक फैलाव को संबोधित किया गया।
- टाइप A इन्फ्लूएंजा वायरस प्रायः जलीय पक्षियों में उत्पन्न होते हैं और पक्षी प्रजातियों में फैलते हैं।

DAHD and NDDB sign agreement for biocontainment facility upgrade
- The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has signed MoU with National Dairy Development Board for upgradation and related repairs of biocontainment facility at Chaudhary Charan Singh National Institute of Animal Health (CCSNAIH), Baghpat.
- 20 months time has been given to complete this agreement. The purpose of this upgrade is to improve veterinary services, quality control testing, vaccine efficacy and research and development.

- इस समझौते को पूरा करने के लिए 20 महीने का समय दिया गया है। इस उन्नयन का उद्देश्य पशु चिकित्सा सेवाओं, गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण परीक्षण, वैक्सीन प्रभावकारिता और अनुसंधान एवं विकास में सुधार करना है।
