- Rajya Sabha passed resolution to nominate 12 members for joint committee to examine ‘One Nation, One Election’.
- The Joint Committee will now have 39 members, (Lok Sabha – 27 and Rajya Sabha – 12) nominated

India’s renewable energy sector expected to see record investment in 2023
- India’s renewable sector attracted a record Rs 30,255 crore ($3.66 billion) in project finance in 2023.
- Solar power projects received 49% of total renewable energy investments, followed by hybrid projects (46%) and wind power (6%).
- Gujarat attracted the highest renewable energy investments with Rs 9,857 crore ($1,193 million), followed by Karnataka with Rs 4,593 crore ($556 million).

- भारत के नवीकरणीय क्षेत्र ने 2023 में परियोजना वित्त में रिकॉर्ड 30,255 करोड़ रुपये ($3.66 बिलियन) आकर्षित किए।

China breaks NASA spacewalk record with 9-hour EVA
- Chinese astronauts Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong completed a 9-hour spacewalk outside the Tiangong space station, setting a new global record.
- This surpassed the previous record of 8 hours 56 minutes set by NASA astronauts James Voss and Susan Helms during the 2001 ISS mission.
- The mission marked Song Lingdong’s first spacewalk and highlighted China’s growing progress in space exploration.

- इस मिशन ने सोंग लिंगडोंग के पहले स्पेसवॉक को चिह्नित किया और अंतरिक्ष अन्वेषण में चीन की बढ़ती प्रगति को उजागर किया।

- Meena Ganesh, aged 81, passed away on December 19, 2024, in Shoranur, Palakkad, Kerala due to age-related ailments.
- A renowned actress, she has appeared in over 100 films, including notable works such as Vasantiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanam, Karumadikkuttan, Punaradhivasam, Meesha Madhavan and Nandanam.
- Meena retired from acting six years ago after suffering a stroke.
वरिष्ठ मलयालम अभिनेत्री मीना गणेश का निधन
- मीना गणेश, जिनकी आयु 81 वर्ष थी, का आयु संबंधी बीमारियों के कारण 19 दिसंबर, 2024 को शोरानूर, पलक्कड़, केरल में निधन हो गया।
- एक प्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री, वह 100 से अधिक फिल्मों में दिखाई दीं, जिनमें वसंतियुम लक्ष्मीयुम पिन्ने नजनम, करुमदिक्कुट्टन, पुनराधिवासम, मीशा माधवन और नंदनम जैसे उल्लेखनीय काम शामिल हैं।

- Chennai-born Caitlin Sandra Neal, 19, won the title of Miss India USA 2024 in New Jersey; she is a sophomore at UC Davis.
- Nirali Desiya (Illinois) and Manini Patel (New Jersey) were the first and second runners-up.
- Sanskriti Sharma won the title of Mrs. India USA and Arshita Kathpalia won the title of Miss Teen India USA in the event organized by India Festival Committee.

India and France to partner for world’s largest museum
- India and France signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the National Museum of Art on the lines of the Louvre in North and South Blocks of New Delhi.
- Once completed it will be the largest museum in the world.
- The agreement was signed by Hervé Barbaret, CEO of France Museums and B. R. Mani, Director General of National Museum of India on December 19, 2024.

- पूरा होने पर यह विश्व का सबसे बड़ा संग्रहालय होगा।
- इस समझौते पर फ्रांस म्यूजियम के CEO हर्वे बारबरेट और भारत के राष्ट्रीय संग्रहालय के महानिदेशक बी. आर. मणि ने 19 दिसंबर, 2024 को हस्ताक्षर किए।
Delhi to host 2025 Para Athletics World Championships
- India will host the Para Athletics World Championships for the first time in 2025, which will be held from September 26 to October 5 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.
- This 12th edition is the fourth hosting of the event in Asia.
- Delhi will also host the World Para Athletics Grand Prix from March 11-13, 2025.

World Bank approves $800 million for Amaravati development
- The World Bank has approved an $800 million loan for Amaravati’s integrated urban development programme, aimed at establishing it as a climate-friendly economic hub.
- The 29-year loan requested by India includes a 6-year grace period and will be received in Japanese Yen.
- The programme focuses on employment creation and improving lives, particularly for vulnerable groups.

- विश्व बैंक ने अमरावती के एकीकृत शहरी विकास कार्यक्रम के लिए 800 मिलियन डॉलर के ऋण को मंजूरी दी है, जिसका उद्देश्य इसे जलवायु-अनुकूल आर्थिक केंद्र के रूप में स्थापित करना है।
- भारत द्वारा अनुरोधित 29 वर्षीय ऋण में 6 वर्ष की छूट अवधि शामिल है और इसे जापानी येन में प्राप्त किया जाएगा।

- This will take the total number of tourists in UP to 476.1 million by September 2024.
