Venus Williams receives wildcard for Indian Wells 2024
- Former world number one Venus Williams has been given a wildcard for this year’s Indian Wells tournament.
- The seven-time Grand Slam champion boycotted the tournament for 15 years after her family was subjected to racist abuse by fans during her final win over Kim Clijsters in 2001.
- She has reached the semi-finals three times, most recently in 2018, and played as a wildcard in last year’s event.

India extends tenure of Chief Economic Adviser till March 2027
- The term of Chief Economic Advisor of India V. Anantha Nageswaran has been extended by 2 years till March 2027.
- Nageswaran was appointed to the position in 2022 and has also served as a part-time member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council from 2019 to 2021.
- Nageswaran authored India’s annual Economic Survey in January that projected gross domestic product (GDP) growth at 6.3%-6.8% in the next fiscal year.
भारत ने मुख्य आर्थिक सलाहकार का कार्यकाल मार्च 2027 तक बढ़ाया
- भारत के मुख्य आर्थिक सलाहकार वी. अनंथा नागेश्वरन का कार्यकाल 2 वर्ष के लिए बढ़ाकर मार्च 2027 तक कर दिया गया है।
- नागेश्वरन को 2022 में इस पद पर नियुक्त किया गया था और उन्होंने 2019 से 2021 तक प्रधानमंत्री की आर्थिक सलाहकार परिषद के अंशकालिक सदस्य के रूप में भी काम किया है।
- नागेश्वरन ने जनवरी में भारत का वार्षिक आर्थिक सर्वेक्षण लिखा था जिसमें अगले वित्त वर्ष में सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (GDP) की वृद्धि 6.3%-6.8% रहने का अनुमान लगाया गया था।
Moody’s: India’s GDP growth rate will decline to 6.4% in 2025
- Moody’s Analytics said India’s growth rate will slow from 6.6 percent in 2024 to 6.4 percent in 2025.
- Title of the report – ‘Asia-Pacific Outlook: Chaos Ahead’
- It estimated that China’s GDP growth rate will slow to 4.2 percent in 2025 and 3.9 percent in 2026, from 5 percent in 2024.
- According to its Asia-Pacific forecast, India’s GDP is projected to grow by 6.4 percent in both fiscal years 2025 and 2026.

- मूडीज एनालिटिक्स ने कहा कि भारत की वृद्धि दर 2024 में 6.6 प्रतिशत से घटकर 2025 में 6.4 प्रतिशत हो जाएगी।

India elected as Vice President of IALA
- India was elected Vice President of the International Association of Aids to Maritime Navigation (IALA) in Singapore.
- T. K. Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways led the Indian delegation.
- India will host the IALA Council meeting (December 2025) and the IALA Conference and General Assembly (September 2027) in Mumbai.

- भारत को सिंगापुर में समुद्री नौवहन सहायता के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगठन (IALA) का उपाध्यक्ष चुना गया।
- बंदरगाह, नौवहन और जलमार्ग मंत्रालय के सचिव टी. के. रामचंद्रन ने भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व किया।
- भारत मुंबई में IALA परिषद की बैठक (दिसंबर 2025) और IALA सम्मेलन और महासभा (सितंबर 2027) की मेजबानी करेगा।
Javelin anti-tank guided missile
- The FGM-148 Javelin is a man-portable, shoulder-fired anti-tank guided missile developed by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin.
- India and the US will procure and co-produce Javelin missiles to strengthen defence capabilities.
- Can be fired from buildings, bunkers and operates in all weather conditions.
- Used in Afghanistan and Iraq, effectiveness proven in over 5,000 encounters.

- FGM-148 जैवलिन एक मानव-पोर्टेबल, कंधे से दागी जाने वाली एंटी-टैंक गाइडेड मिसाइल है, जिसे रेथियॉन और लॉकहीड मार्टिन ने विकसित किया है।

- Rekha Gupta took oath as Chief Minister of Delhi at Ramlila Maidan.
- She became the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi and the only woman Chief Minister of BJP in India.
- Delhi’s Cabinet ministers include Parvesh Verma, Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Inderaj and Pankaj Kumar Singh.
- Prime Minister Modi and senior BJP leaders attended the ceremony and congratulated the new ministers.

6th Delhi International Leather Expo strengthens global trade
- The 6th Delhi International Leather Expo (DILEX) is being held at IICC, Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, organised by Council of Leather Exports in collaboration with Government of India under Market Access Initiative (MAI) scheme.
- 225 Indian exhibitors and over 200 foreign buyers from 52 countries are participating.
- The expo is promoting global networking with over 500 Indian business delegates.

- The theme for 2025 is ‘Empowering Inclusion: Bridging the Social Justice Gap’.
- UNGA declared on November 26, 2007 that breaking of social barriers based on age, class, gender, caste and disability will be celebrated from 2009.
- Its foundation was laid at the 1995 Copenhagen Summit, where leaders adopted the Copenhagen Declaration and Programme of Action for Global Development.

- 2025 की विषय-वस्तु ‘समावेश को सशक्त बनानाः सामाजिक न्याय की खाई को पाटना’ है।
- UNGA ने 26 नवंबर, 2007 को घोषणा की कि 2009 से आयु, वर्ग, लिंग, जाति और विकलांगता के आधार पर सामाजिक बाधाओं को तोड़ना मनाया जा रहा है।
- इसकी नींव 1995 के कोपेनहेगन शिखर सम्मेलन में रखी गई थी, जहाँ नेताओं ने कोपेनहेगन घोषणा और वैश्विक विकास के लिए कार्य कार्यक्रम को अपनाया था।
Pharaoh’s tomb found for the first time in Egypt after 100 years
- A joint Egyptian-British mission identifies a royal tomb near Luxor as that of King Thutmose II, the first pharaonic tomb found since 1922.
- Located west of the Valley of the Kings, it was the last lost tomb of Egypt’s 18th Dynasty, confirmed by alabaster pottery inscribed with the king’s name.
- The tomb contained funeral furniture, religious inscriptions, and artifacts.
मिस्र में 100 वर्ष बाद पहली बार फिरौन का मकबरा मिला
- मिस्र-ब्रिटिश संयुक्त मिशन ने लक्सर के पास एक शाही मकबरे की पहचान राजा थुटमोस द्वितीय के रूप में की, जो 1922 के बाद से पाया गया पहला फ़ारोनिक मकबरा है।
- किंग्स की घाटी के पश्चिम में स्थित, यह मिस्र के 18वें राजवंश का अंतिम खोया हुआ मकबरा था, जिसकी पुष्टि राजा के नाम के साथ अंकित अलबास्टर बर्तनों से होती है।
- मकबरे में अंतिम संस्कार के लिए फर्नीचर, धार्मिक शिलालेख और कलाकृतियाँ थीं।
