Partha Pratim Sengupta appointed MD and CEO of Bandhan Bank
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Partha Pratim Sengupta as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of Bandhan Bank for a term of three years.
- He will replace founding MD and CEO Chandrashekhar Ghosh, who resigned on July 9, 2024.
- Rattan Kesh is currently serving as the interim MD and CEO.
पार्थ प्रतिम सेनगुप्ता बंधन बैंक के MD और CEO नियुक्त हुए
- भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने पार्थ प्रतिम सेनगुप्ता को तीन वर्ष की अवधि के लिए बंधन बैंक के प्रबंध निदेशक और मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (MD & CEO) के रूप में मंजूरी दे दी है।
- वह संस्थापक MD और CEO चंद्रशेखर घोष की जगह लेंगे, जिन्होंने 9 जुलाई, 2024 को इस्तीफा दे दिया था।
- रतन केश वर्तमान में अंतरिम MD और CEO के रूप में कार्यरत हैं।
Indian Navy’s first training squadron to visit Bahrain and UAE
- Indian Naval Ship Tir and Indian Coast Guard Ship Veera arrived at Manama Port, Bahrain as part of long range training deployment of 1st Training Squadron (1TS) to the Persian Gulf.
- The visit focuses on improving naval cooperation and interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Royal Bahrain Naval Forces (RBNF).
- With this, INS Shardul reached Port Rashid, Dubai.

- भारतीय नौसेना का जहाज तीर और भारतीय तटरक्षक जहाज वीरा फारस की खाड़ी में प्रथम प्रशिक्षण स्क्वाड्रन (1TS) की लंबी दूरी की प्रशिक्षण तैनाती के हिस्से के रूप में बहरीन के मनामा बंदरगाह पर पहुँचे।
- यह यात्रा भारतीय नौसेना और रॉयल बहरीन नौसेना बलों (RBNF) के बीच नौसैनिक सहयोग और अंतर-संचालन में सुधार लाने पर केंद्रित है।
- इसके साथ ही, INS शार्दुल दुबई के पोर्ट राशिद पर पहुंचा।
‘ICC Player of the Month’ for September 2024
- Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis was named ‘ICC Men’s Player of the Month’ for September.
- Mendis became the first male player in history to score half-centuries in each of the first eight matches of his Test career.
- England’s Tammy Beaumont was awarded the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Player of the Month for September.
- He played 121 ODIs, 104 T20Is and 9 Test matches for England.

Jannik Sinner defeats Djokovic to win Shanghai Masters title
- Jannik Sinner won his seventh title of the year by defeating Novak Djokovic 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the Shanghai Masters final.
- Sinner is the first player to win more than six titles in a calendar year since Andy Murray in 2016, improving his ATP head-to-head series against Djokovic to 4-4.
- The win marked Sinner’s third consecutive victory over Djokovic and his 65th win of the season.

S. Parmesh appointed as the new chief of Indian Coast Guard
- The Centre has appointed Additional Director General S. Paramesh as the new chief of the Indian Coast Guard.
- Parmesh will assume the post after the demise of former Director General Rakesh Pal.
- With over three decades of service, Parmesh has held several key appointments, including Deputy Director General (Operations & Coastal Security) and command of major ICG ships.

- Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has been granted Maharatna status, among 13 other top public sector undertakings, giving it greater autonomy in strategic decisions, joint ventures and investments.
- HAL’s impressive FY 2023-24 performance includes a turnover of Rs 28,162 crore and a net profit of Rs 7,595 crore.

Winners of the 5th National Water Awards 2023 announced
- Hon’ble Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri CR Patil announced the list of winners of the 5th National Water Awards.
- The first prize in the Best State category has been awarded to Odisha, while Uttar Pradesh has secured the second position and Gujarat and Puducherry have jointly secured the third position.
- A total of 38 winners covering 09 different categories have been selected for the 5th National Water Awards, 2023.

- सर्वश्रेष्ठ राज्य की श्रेणी में प्रथम पुरस्कार ओडिशा को दिया गया है, जबकि उत्तर प्रदेश ने दूसरा स्थान हासिल किया है और गुजरात और पुडुचेरी ने संयुक्त रूप से तीसरा स्थान हासिल किया है।
- 5वें राष्ट्रीय जल पुरस्कार, 2023 के लिए 09 विभिन्न श्रेणियों को कवर करने वाले कुल 38 विजेताओं का चयन किया गया है।
Indian Navy’s multi-purpose ship ‘Sampark’ launched
- The first ship of the two multi-purpose vessel project built by L&T Shipyard for the Indian Navy was launched at L&T, Kattupalli.
- These multipurpose vessels will be capable of towing ships, launching and recovering various targets, operating unmanned autonomous vehicles, and performing other tasks.
- The multipurpose vessels can achieve a maximum speed of 15 knots and are 106 metres long and 16.8 metres wide.
भारतीय नौसेना के बहुउद्देश्यीय पोत ‘समर्थक’ का जलावतरण
- भारतीय नौसेना के लिए L&T, शिपयार्ड द्वारा निर्मित दो बहुउद्देशीय पोत परियोजना के पहले जहाज को एलएंडटी, कट्टुपल्ली में लॉन्च किया गया।
- ये बहुउद्देशीय पोत जहाजों को खींचने, विभिन्न लक्ष्यों को लॉन्च करने और पुनर्प्राप्त करने, मानव रहित स्वायत्त वाहनों का संचालन करने और अन्य कार्य करने में सक्षम होंगे।
- बहुउद्देशीय पोत 15 समुद्री मील की अधिकतम चाल प्राप्त कर सकते हैं और 106 मीटर लंबे और 16.8 मीटर चौड़े हैं।
Abu Dhabi named world’s richest city by sovereign wealth funds
- Abu Dhabi has been declared the world’s richest country in terms of sovereign wealth fund, with an estimated capital of $1.7 trillion.
- It is followed by Oslo, Beijing, Singapore, Riyadh and Hong Kong.
- Oil was discovered in Abu Dhabi in the 1950s.
- Abu Dhabi is one of the world’s top energy producers, owning 95% of the UAE’s oil and 92% of its gas.

ISRO chief S. Somnath wins IAF World Space Award for Chandrayaan-3
- ISRO chief Dr S Somnath was awarded the prestigious International Astronautical Federation (IAF) World Space Award for the remarkable success of Chandrayaan-3 mission. The award ceremony was held in Milan, Italy.
- The historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 near the south pole of the Moon made India the first country to achieve this feat.
ISRO प्रमुख एस. सोमनाथ ने चंद्रयान-3 के लिए IAF विश्व अंतरिक्ष पुरस्कार जीता
- ISRO प्रमुख डॉ. एस. सोमनाथ को चंद्रयान-3 मिशन की उल्लेखनीय सफलता के लिए प्रतिष्ठित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष यात्री महासंघ (IAF) विश्व अंतरिक्ष पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। पुरस्कार समारोह इटली के मिलान में आयोजित किया गया। चंद्रमा के दक्षिणी ध्रुव के पास चंद्रयान-3 की ऐतिहासिक लैंडिंग ने भारत को यह उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाला पहला देश बना दिया।
