Axiom-4 Mission (X-4)
- Axiom-4 (X-4) is the fourth private astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
- Organised by Axiom Space in collaboration with NASA.
- Launched on a SpaceX Dragon from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
- Mission duration: Up to 14 days on ISS.
- India’s first astronaut on ISS through NASA-ISRO collaboration.

New Zealand’s mountain is now recognised by law as a person
- Mount Taranaki (Taranaki Maunga) is given personality status by the New Zealand Parliament.
- This recognition is part of the Government’s agreement to redress historical wrongs against the Māori people, restoring their connection to the mountain.
- The mountain, now named Te Kāhui Tupua, will have legal rights and responsibilities to ensure its safety and wellbeing.

- माउंट तरानाकी (तरानाकी मौंगा) को न्यूजीलैंड की संसद द्वारा व्यक्तित्व का दर्जा दिया गया है।

Assam denotifies three reserved forests for land rights
- The Assam government has decided to denotify three proposed reserved forests in Tinsukia to provide land rights to over 20,000 residents.
- Three PRFs (Talpathar, Mohongpathar and Duarmara) will be converted into revenue villages.
- Additional decisions include a grant of Rs 600 crore for 25,000 places of worship and approval of new policies for startups and defence manufacturing.

Switzerland to end aid programmes for Bangladesh, Albania, Zambia
- Switzerland has cut development assistance programmes for Bangladesh, Albania and Zambia due to a shortfall in its foreign aid budget.
- The Swiss parliament has cut CHF 110 million from the 2025 foreign aid budget and CHF 321 million from the 2026-2028 plans.
- Aid cuts will impact bilateral and multilateral cooperation, but funding for humanitarian efforts will remain unchanged.

Niger eliminates onchocerciasis, a first in Africa
Niger becomes the first African country and the 5th country globally to have eliminated onchocerciasis as recognized by the World Health Organization.
- This disease, caused by the Onchocerca volvulus parasite, is spread by black flies in riverine areas.
- Other countries that have achieved this feat include Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Mexico.

India’s GDP growth rate is estimated to be 6.4% in the financial year 2025
- India’s real GDP is projected to grow at 6.4% in FY25, while the estimate range is 6.3%-6.8% in FY26.
- Economic growth is supported by strong agriculture and services sectors, while the manufacturing sector is facing global demand pressures.
- Retail inflation reduced to 4.9% (April-December 2024) and unemployment rate reduced to 3.2% in 2023-24.
- This was estimated in the Economic Survey.

India to host BRICS Youth Entrepreneurship Summit in March
- India will host the BRICS Youth Council Entrepreneurship Working Group meeting from March 3-7, 2025 on the theme ‘Youth Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development’.
- The event will facilitate youth collaboration in entrepreneurship, policy exchange and global networking among BRICS countries.
- Eight pre-events across India will prepare youth for the meeting, sparking discussions on entrepreneurship.

- भारत 3-7 मार्च, 2025 तक BRICS युवा परिषद उद्यमिता कार्य समूह की बैठक की मेज़बानी करेगा, जिसका विषय ‘सतत विकास के लिए युवा उद्यमिता’ होगा।
- यह आयोजन BRICS देशों के बीच उद्यमिता, नीति विनिमय और वैश्विक नेटवर्किंग में युवाओं के सहयोग को सुगम बनाएगा।
- भारत भर में आठ पूर्व-कार्यक्रम युवाओं को बैठक के लिए तैयार करेंगे, उद्यमिता पर चर्चा को बढ़ावा देंगे।
Guneri declared as the first biodiversity heritage site of Gujarat
- Guneri village in Kutch is now Gujarat’s first ‘Biodiversity Heritage Site’, preserving its unique inland mangrove ecosystem.
- Unlike typical coastal mangroves, Guneri’s mangroves grow in non-tidal, flat terrain, spread across 32.78 hectares.
- The Government of Gujarat is planning conservation efforts, local community training and ecological protection.
